Board Secretary

Dr. Susan Roos brings over four decades of clinical practice and healthcare leadership to the organization. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on Executive Leadership in 2015. She has held numerous healthcare leadership roles both in the acute care setting as well as volunteer organizations. Various healthcare leadership roles include: Senior Director of Nursing and Nursing Quality; Associate Vice President, Quality and Risk Management; Patient Safety Officer/Patient Experience Officer; Chief Quality Officer and Chief Clinical Operating Officer; Clinical Adjunct Faculty, University of South Carolina Beaufort, Bluffton, SC. Volunteer positions include South Carolina Board of Nursing, Practice and Standards Committee; South Carolina Organization of Nurse Leaders, Board of Directors; American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Atlanta Chapter, President and Board of Directors; Low Country Area Healthcare Education Consortium, Board of Directors. Dr. Roos, as Project Leader, and her team earned the coveted Pathway to Excellence designation for Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort SC, for three consecutive terms. 

She currently serves as a volunteer nurse at the Good Neighbor Free Medical Clinic, in Beaufort SC. In this role, she provides direct patient care, consultation and guidance on clinical quality and risk management issues, develops and implements policies and procedures and manages the patient experience process. She actively serves on the GNMC Board of Directors as a Director and as Secretary of the Board. She continues to serve the University of South Carolina Beaufort Campus as Clinical Adjunct faculty. She has lived in Beaufort, SC since 1998 with her husband, David.
